Happy 4th of July

Published July 4, 2013 in Children, fun stuff, girls, theme session, Uncategorized

Have you ever really REALLY thought about our freedoms in the USA? I am sure most of us have. I know I have moments where I hear a song, or see a memorial and I get a little emotional and teary. Probably the song that gets me most is “Proud to be an American” by Lee Greenwood…. ha, I remember as a young teen, loving that song and well, really anything he wrote. My parents even took me my first concert to see Lee Greenwood. Yep, I cried through the song. Its a memory I am not likely to forget. At that point in life, I doubt I really understood the sacrifices that had been made, but I knew for some reason I needed to be thankful. Today, I know so many families who are sacrificing…. some for many months or even years as loved ones serve to protect us. When 9-11 happened, for me that was really an awakening. Maybe I am naive, but, I have always felt safe. My parents cared for my needs as a youngster, my husband has been a rock in my life. My needs are few, and my safety was never in doubt. I know better now. I understand the gift of life I have. I am thankful for all who have served, continue to serve and their families.

With all that in mind, it was a joy to create an Americana session last week. I saved sharing her on here as a small tribute of beauty and thankfulness on this precious day.
